Why you shouldn’t apply for Inkhaven 3
you have a life, right? you have a family. you have presumably lots of things you'd like to be doing.
you know what is not particularly important? blogging. generating more stuff that is going to eat your finite waking hours on this earth.
do you really think you are so important that your thoughts, your unfiltered daily thoughts, are worth spitting out and posting on the world's ugliest signpost? you will be urinated upon. dandelions will grow under you. your words will grow tattered.
and worse is the uselessness. the utter uselessness of language. language is the skin of thought. it is not thought itself. it masquerades as insight. spend your life having experiences, goddamnit, not writing about them. for example, the experience that i am having right now is my hands are very small and the keyboard is very large, which is hella unpleasant. i am struggling. don't do this to yourself. do not apply for inkhaven iii.
the world is vast, and words are for dumb people. the world is beautiful, and words are for the cruel. hold onto your soul while you still have one. live out your values instead of whining or pontificating. you are a brilliant fucking child of god. you are here for a reason. and that reason is not to write.
writers are assholes. do you want to be an asshole? do you want to go out like dfw? or like moliere, at one of his plays? would you rather die peacefully surrounded by children and grandchildren and the beautiful works you've made in the world? do not come to lighthaven. stay. live. good god.
