Jabberwocky.
large monsters must have interesting names. if they don't then you must be precise about what they could actually do to you, what losses you might incur. but people are harder to scare when you tell them things. then they argue against you. but simple words that are enigmatic, they seem to leave lots to the imagination. everyone gets to invent their own monster. i think every single monster i encountered has had very simple attributes, eg: bloody mary comes out of the toilet or something and then ??? but also tigers are not scary to the people who actually read enough about zoology, they seem to just become fascinated and care about the animal thereafter.
every people refuse to study certain creatures or concepts in order to continue to feel strongly about them. i am not sure what personal vulnerability to share here, or what public attacks to make, so i will let this sit here.
the other thing i can write about it pretty words. there're are some sounds that go better together, and stick in your mind. assuming you read with some sense of hearing. like two vowels together are very memorable, the letters l, m, n sound good together. i don't know if lewis carroll studied theses properties, b
